| EVERGREEN PREMIER SELECTION
Abies concolor
A very handsome Fir with light bluish colored needles and nice, rigid pyramidal growth habit. This Fir variety tends to tolerate harsh city conditions better than most Firs, and also appears to tolerate heat well through zone 7, and possibly just beyond. Makes a wonderful specimen planting - slightly slower growth may hinder its use as privacy screens or windbreaks though. As is typical of many fir cultivars, cones are produced as the tree ages into maturity and are held upright on branches that have very smooth bark. Bark on the main trunk thickens with age, and becomes deeply grooved. By far one of the best Fir choices for areas in the northern & eastern parts of the U.S.
