Barberry Shrub Selections

Barberry is an old-time favorite for use as a good, all purpose shrub. The abundant, thorny barbs that are this shrubs' trademark make it an excellent choice for use as a formidable barrier, or "natural fence". Easy to grow, and very heat / cold tolerant - and can be kept at most any size & shape through occasional trimming. Crimson Pygmy Barberry is a smaller, dwarf version of the original Red Barberry. Nice dark blood red leaves keep their color all the way from spring till frost. Crimson Pygmy has a neat, compact, round growth habit.	Golden Barberry has super bright solid yellow foliage which retains its color well, except for in areas with lots of shade, where the leaves will then turn more of a lime green color. A very dense form of Barberry, and is relatively slow-growing when compared to other varieties of this species.	Green Barberry is an arching, dense shrub with broadly oval pale to midgreen leaves turning brilliant orange-red in the fall. A very hardy shrub that is acapable of withstanding a wide variety of soils & conditions.

Red Barberry is a widely used shrub for hedges, accents, and borders. Foliage has a purplish / red shade to it, along with a nice deep green base color. Very, very prickly thorny "barbs" are present on all the branches, which makes this plant a great natural barrier.	Superba Barberry has very large rounded, slightly oval-shaped leaves are a beautiful dark burgundy purple. Much larger leaves than other red barberry.
