Overall Description
A
very hardy juniper that is capable of withstanding a variety of harsh
conditions, such as dry and windy. Good blue color, especially in older
plants turning a shade of bluish/purple in the winter. Has ascending,
arching branches. Can be used for foundation plantings, or grouped together to form a border / hedge planting as well. Can be trimmed in order to maintain them within a certain height or width if desired.

Sun Exposure: Full sun to partial shade - adapts to a wide range of conditions. Growth rate will be slightly slower in shadier spots.
Soil Preference: Average soil to slightly acidic & sandy - needs to have adequate drainage in order to thrive.
Foliage Color & Texture: Very
typical juniper foliage with excellent light silver blue color with a
hint of green. Coloration takes on a very nice, slightly darker blue /
grey / purplish color during the winter months. Especially in colder
climates. Winter coloration display is temporary, and dissipates with
the onset of warmer temps in the spring.
Flower, Cone, Or Berry Facts: None to mention. Blue Pfitzer is a male clone - no cones are expected on this variety.
Diseases / Insects: Relatively trouble free variety of juniper, however Phomopsis and Kabatina blights have been observed on specimens if kept in extremely wet conditions. These blights have been known to kill young new shoots in early spring in wet weather.
Fertilization / Feeding: Either
water soluble ( Miracle Gro, or equivalent ), or granular ( Holly Tone
is excellent ). Other granular types with 6-12-12, or 10-10-10 ratio is
acceptable. Best to fertilize in early spring, and again in mid fall -
avoid feeding during hot summer months, and directly after
transplanting.
