PLANT DESCRIPTIONS & FACTS

Cedrus deodara

Overall Description

Also known as Deodar Cedar, or Himilayan Cedar. One of the most graceful looking of all the cedars with bright silver/blue needle color, and graceful, pendulous branches. Needles are very fine textured, and are about 1 1/2" long. Makes a truly wonderful specimen planting - keeps good color year round. Broadly pyramidal growth habit. One of the very best Cedar cultivars for use as a specimen planting - truly exquisite!!
Color is best in full sun locations, and in areas with soil of high organic matter. Benefits greatly from regular feedings and high quality mulch applications.

Fertilization / Feeding:
For maximum health & hardiness, we highly recommend POOPeas for use with all of evergreen species. However, either water soluble ( Miracle Gro, or equivalent ), or granular fertilizers ( Holly Tone is excellent ) are also good options. Most any granular fertilizers with a 6-12-12, or 10-10-10 ratio are also acceptable. Best to fertilize in early spring, and again in mid fall - avoid feeding standard chemical fertilizers during hot summer months, and directly after transplanting. POOPeas may be used at anytime.
