PLANT DESCRIPTIONS & FACTS
Euonymus fortunei 'Emerald Gaiety'
Overall Description
This euonymus variety is one of several belonging to the Emerald Series - a very hardy, fast growing group of Euonymus fortunei ( Wintercreeper Euonymus ) cultivars. Emerald Gaiety is a somewhat smaller variety with a very, very dense branching almost vine-like habit. Makes a really good.......and colorful groundcover when planted in groups. Foliage is distinguished by very pronounced pure white margins held against good dark green centers. This nice white margin turns a pink color during winter months, giving the plant a very different, unique look. As with most all Wintercreeper Euonymus, Emerald Gaiety will aggressively climb if planted next to just about any structure, fence, lattice work, etc. Also works well to plant near retaining walls, or banks and allowed to drape over. A very nice, colorful plant that is very easy to grow - has many uses.

Diseases / Insects:
The single biggest danger to Emerald Gaiety, and most any Eunonymus fortunei variety, is by far Euonymus Scale
(Unaspis euonymi)
. Regular inspection of plants is highly recommended.....as scale is usually easily treated if caught in early stages. Other diseases that have been seen, but not nearly as common, include: Anthracnose, crown gall, leaf spots, powdery mildews, aphids, and thrips.
Recommended Spacing:
2 ft apart recommended for typical groundcover applications

Fertilization / Feeding:
For maximum health & hardiness, we highly recommend
POOPeas
for use with all of evergreen species. However, either water soluble ( Miracle Gro, or equivalent ), or granular fertilizers ( Holly Tone is excellent ) are also good options. Most any granular fertilizers with a 6-12-12, or 10-10-10 ratio are also acceptable. Best to fertilize in early spring, and again in mid fall - avoid feeding standard chemical fertilizers during hot summer months, and directly after transplanting.
POOPeas
may be used at anytime.
