PLANT DESCRIPTIONS & FACTS
Buddleja x 'BUZZ' Ivory
Plant Patent Applied For
Overall Description
The BUZZ Series of Butterfly Bush is the first dwarf, compact version of Butterfly Bush to be introduced and is the culmination of over 8 years worth of selective breeding & development by English plantsmen Thompson & Morgan. Ivory BUZZ has the same blooming characteristics & qualities of the larger, standard Butterfly Bush forms, but maintains a nice compact, smaller size at maturity. Blooms are a bright clean white throughout. Attracts butterflies by the dozens.
Foliage is fast growing, and responds very well to trimming at just about anytime of year. So feel free to maintain this variety at whatever height & width best suits your taste - we actually suggest trimming any of the BUZZ Butterfly Bushes back once or twice per season to increase re-blooming, and encourage maximum plant fullness & branching. Foliage is semi-evergreen - being retained for the most part in warmer, southern climates...........but will be completely deciduous ( no leaves at all ) in colder, more northern locations.
Multiple uses including container / patios gardens, foundation plantings, behind shorter perennials & annuals in flower gardens, and an absolute must for any avid butterfly admirer!!

New growth is rather tender, and almost succulent in texture, but matures to a much thicker, sturdier consistency.......especially in more southern climates. Color in season is a nice green.....many times with just a hint of blue, or silver. In warmer climates, will retain most of its foliage and will change to a grayish green color. Completely deciduous in colder climates.

Fertilization / Feeding:
For maximum health & hardiness, we highly recommend
POOPeas
for use with all of the BUZZ Butterfly Bushes. However, either water soluble ( Miracle Gro, or equivalent ), or granular fertilizers ( Holly Tone is excellent ) are also good options. Most any granular fertilizers with a 6-12-12, or 10-10-10 ratio are also acceptable. Best to fertilize in early spring, and a couple more spaced feedings throughout the growing season - avoid feeding standard chemical fertilizers during hot summer months, and directly after transplanting.
POOPeas
may be used at anytime.
Additional Features & Characteristics:
Attracts Butterflies:
Ivory BUZZ Butterfly Bush has blooms which are EXTREMELY effective at attracting large quantities of butterflies throughout the season.
Container / Patio Gardening:
All of the BUZZ Butterfly Bush varieties make excellent choices for container, or patio gardening due to their smaller, more compact size, non aggressive root system, and adaptability to a large range of soils.
Pruning Recommended:
Pruning of branches. and removal of old, expired blooms is highly recommended in order to encourage re-blooming, and maximize plant branching & fullness.
