EVERGREEN PREMIER SELECTION

 Thuja occidentalis 'Golden Globe'

 Overall Description

A very nice, round, globe shape that doesn't get out of control. The foliage is very dense, and a beautiful golden yellow color on the outside of the plant - nice bright green in the interior section. A great, carefree choice for accent plantings, palnted close together makes a nice medium sized hedge/border. Very pretty plant that will brighten up any landscape. Coloration will darken / bronze just a bit during winter weather, but still very, very attractive. Becoming increasingly popular with each & every season.

 Plant Facts & Specifications

 Mature Height: 3 ft

 Mature Width: 3 ft

Growth Rate: Moderate ( 4"-8" avg per yr )

 Hardiness Zones: 5-9

 Sun Exposure: Full sun

Soil Preference: Average to slightly acidic, sandy - well drained

Foliage Color & Texture: Typical Arborvitae foliage - fernlike sprays with a aromatic scent when rubbed or crushed. Good golden yellow color through growing season, turning just slightly darker gold during winter months.

Flower, Cone, Or Berry Facts: Occasional cone spotted on very mature plants - but extremely few & far between.

Diseases / Insects: Typically, very resistant to most common Thuja problems. But can't rule out an occasional bagworm, or spider mite infestation in some areas of the country.

Fertilization / Feeding: Either water soluble ( Miracle Gro, or equivalent ), or granular ( Holly Tone is excellent ). Other granular types with 6-12-12, or 10-10-10 ratio is acceptable. Best to fertilize in early spring, and again in mid fall - avoid feeding during hot summer months, and directly after transplanting.
