EVERGREEN PREMIER SELECTION

Thuja koraiensis 'Glauca Prostrata'

Overall Description

A truly interesting form of Korean Arborvitae - virtually impossible to find in the landscape / nursery industry. As the name would indicate, this is a fairly low growing plant with a somewhat prostrate growth habit when compared to many arborvitae. It's spreading, globose growth habit, makes it a good choice for foreground plantings as well as lower accent or group plantings. Foliage color is a very attractive silvery blue color - one of the only Thuja varieties with this foliage color!! Really have to see this plant in person to appreciate the unique coloration of the foliage.

Foliage Color & Texture: Foliage is typical fernlike in shape, but slightly wider than most other Thuja varieties. Color is an outstanding blue with green undertone - and does not change during colder weather. Undersides of foliage is a very intense slivery blue color.

Diseases / Insects: The usual occasional bagworm, or spider mite infestation is possible - as with most all Thuja varieties. Appears to be very resistant to most other pests / problems though.

Fertilization / Feeding: Either water soluble ( Miracle Gro, or equivalent ), or granular ( Holly Tone is excellent ). Other granular types with 6-12-12, or 10-10-10 ratio is acceptable. Best to fertilize in early spring, and again in mid fall - avoid feeding during hot summer months, and directly after transplanting.
