EVERGREEN PREMIER SELECTION

Thuja plicata 'Rogersii' aka 'Cuprea'

 Overall Description

This Thuja plicata ( Western Red Cedar ) cultivar is a specially selected, dwarf version of Thuja plicata 'Aurea'. Standard Thuja plicata 'Aurea' reaches heights of 30-40 feet, but this dwarf sport only reaches 4-5 feet in height, and is very oval to globose in growth habit - as opposed to the broad pyramidal shape of the standard 'Aurea'. Foliage is bright golden yellow on the outer portion of the tree, gradually turning to a very dark green on the inner portions. Foliage takes on a very attractive dark golden / orangish / bronze color during the winter months. A very nice looking, hardy arborvitae year round - makes a great specimen planting, or also looks wonderful when planted in groups, or staggered in the foreground against larger varieties & species.
