Prefers a sheltered, sunny site and fertile, well-drained but not too dry soil. Leaves have narrow lance-shaped, dark green leaflets, purplish red when young and in autumn-winter. On established plants prune old stems to base in spring. Produces bright red, berries with maturity in the fall & winter that very much resemble the classic red holly berries.
