Overall Description
Baby
Blue is a very attractive Chamaecyparis with intense silvery blue
colored foliage that has a feathery look to it. Foliage turns a slight
purplish plum color in winter months, giving this plant year round
interest. Has an overall upright, somewhat conical growth habit and
keeps a very nice tidy shape with little or no trimming at all. Makes a
great accent planting, or can even be grouped together for hedge use.
Also makes a great container specimen due to its slower growth rate,
and manageable size at maturity.

Sun Exposure: Full sun to partial shade - but actually prefers, and does best in, part sun / part shade locations.

Foliage Color & Texture: Very fine, light feathery texture. Foliage is a very nice silvery blue, and is quite dense.

Diseases / Insects: Chamaecyparis ( Falsecypress
) is relatively free of serious problems although blight (Phomopsis
juniperovora), root rot and other minor insect pests have been noted on
rare occasions.
Fertilization / Feeding: Either
water soluble ( Miracle Gro, or equivalent ), or granular ( Holly Tone
is excellent ). Other granular types with 6-12-12, or 10-10-10 ratio is
acceptable. Best to fertilize in early spring, and again in mid fall -
avoid feeding during hot summer months, and directly after
transplanting.
