Euonymus japonicus 'Microphyllus'
aka Boxleaf Euonymus
 
  A very versatile shrub with super dark green, glossy leaves that remain all through winter. Truly a wonderful evergreen shrub that holds its color amazingly well all year!! Foliage is extremely thick & dense, and takes very well to trimming and shaping - the possibilities are virtually endless!! Not as susceptible to scale disease, as many euonymus can be - is an excellent, hardier alternative to boxwoods for use in hedge rows, and borders. Can be trimmed or pruned to maintain whatever shape & height desired. Withstands a wide range of harsh conditions, but needs fairly well drained soil. Will not do well in wet, swampy conditions - but that is about the only condition that seems to bother this wonderful, all purpose shrub.
