PLANT DESCRIPTIONS & FACTS

Juniperus sabina 'Calgary Carpet'

 Overall Description

This low growing groundcover juniper is extremely durable & hardy, and has excellent cold hardiness - can withstand conditions through zone 3. Foliage is very bright green with a somewhat softer texture than many other low growing junipers. Great for use as a low growing accent, groundcover in mass plantings, as well as great for along sidewalks. A great carefree choice - especially in colder climates.
Typical spacing for most solid groundcover applications will be between 2-3 ft apart, but exact distance will vary depending upon exact planting location, sun exposure, area of the country, etc.

Fertilization / Feeding:
For maximum health & hardiness, we highly recommend POOPeas for use with all of our evergreen species. However, either water soluble ( Miracle Gro, or equivalent ), or granular fertilizers ( Holly Tone is excellent ) are also good options. Most any granular fertilizers with a 6-12-12, or 10-10-10 ratio are also acceptable. Best to fertilize in early spring, and again in mid fall - avoid feeding standard chemical fertilizers during hot summer months, and directly after transplanting. POOPeas may be used at anytime.

Additional Features & Characteristics:

Drought Tolerant: This variety has shown itself to have exceptional drought tolerance, and a fairly low water requirement once established.
