Cryptomeria japonica 'Sekkan Sugi'
This interesting variety of cryptomeria was oftentimes referred to by many of our friends, and customers here in East Tennessee as 'Golden Curls' - kind of a nickname that we've given this tree because of the numerous times we've heard the name mentioned when folks see this Japanese Cedar variety. Mainly because of its very distinct, bright yellow, weeping curls at the end of each branch. The rest of the tree is a nice light green.....lighter than most other commonly seen Cryptomeria cultivars.
It's one of our favorite Cryptomerias, and always an eye-catcher no matter where you plant it. Either full sun, or part shade will be fine for Sekkan Sugi, however you get the best color display in full sun. Makes a wonderful specimen tree.
